Carta abierta de la comunidad académica por el diálogo en Cuba

Carta pública en la que más de 140 académicos cubanistas rechazan las posturas antidemocráticas que el gobierno cubano ha desplegado como respuesta a lo que consideran reclamos justos de la sociedad civil, y urgen a las autoridades a entablar un diálogo nacional.

Lo sucedido en días recientes en Cuba, a raíz de la huelga de hambre realizada por miembros del Movimiento San Isidro, ha puesto sobre el tapete la demanda, por parte de un sector diverso y nada desdeñable de la sociedad civil, de cambios que conduzcan a la democratización de la sociedad y la política cubanas. Los sucesos pasados han hecho evidente, además, la disposición mayoritaria al diálogo como vehículo de cambio, y desde diversas publicaciones académicos formados en universidades cubanas han abogado también por un diálogo efectivo entre la sociedad y el gobierno de la Isla, que incluya a todos los actores y del cual emerjan soluciones democratizantes reales.

Ante la organización por parte de diferentes voceros de la sociedad civil de una agenda de diálogo abierto y transparente, las autoridades cubanas han respondido con una campaña de difamación mediática de algunos actores, muchos de los cuales se encuentran sometidos a vigilancia, acoso policial, interrogatorios y arrestos arbitrarios y constantes. La noche del 27 de noviembre pasado, cuando cientos de manifestantes se congregaron frente al Ministerio de Cultura para protestar la violencia estatal ejercida contra los miembros del Movimiento San Isidro, y exigir de manera pacífica la apertura de canales de diálogo, la policía acordonó las calles aledañas, impidiendo el acceso incluso de personas que llevaban agua y comida para los manifestantes.

Los firmantes de esta carta, académicos en su mayoría cubanistas de dentro y fuera de la Isla, rechazamos las posturas antidemocráticas que el gobierno cubano ha desplegado como respuesta a lo que consideramos reclamos justos de la sociedad civil, y urgimos a las autoridades a entablar un diálogo nacional, sin discriminación de actores ni posturas, y sin represalias para ninguno de los participantes, del cual emerjan acuerdos vinculantes que permitan la implementación de soluciones a la actual crisis política que atraviesa el país. Aspiramos a una Cuba abierta, diversa y plural. Una Cuba para y con todos.
